TOHEI Brewery’s ‘FUKUIWAI’ is a sake produced in the town of Kururi in the Chiba-Kasuza region. Carefully selected rice and ‘Kurusi no Meisui’ spring water, which has been locally adored since ancient times. It is carefully prepared, as we aim for a liquor that we believe is truly delicious.

FUKUIWAI is prepared with locally-adored ‘Kururi no Meisei’ spring water,
along with rice carefully chosen among top varieties such as ‘Yamadanishiki’ and ‘Suisei’ from Hokkaido.
‘It begins with washing and ends with washing’ as we always say.
Through brewing that puts great care into washing well the beautifully polished rice,
we produce a taste with a distinct sharpness.

The name puts together the joyful characters of ‘fuku’ (fortune) and ‘iwai’ (celebration),
which was given to bless all our special occasions as well as the warm, everyday life that sustains them.
So that you can share a drink with a loved one without hesitation,
we aim for a sake that we believe is truly delicious, which is why we take our time in carefully producing it.

The minerals in the slightly hard ‘Kururi no Meisui’ spring water activate the yeast, producing a dry sake with a beautiful aftertaste. The soft fragrance and sweetness flow smoothly into a subsequent freshness. That can only be achieved with an earnest approach to water and rice, with its delicate flavor that can’t be made by cutting corners. For formal occasions or even ordinary days, just gathering around the table.

About TOHEI Brewery

Founded in 1716. We have carved out a history of over 300 years of generational sake-brewing.
Now managed primarily by three siblings, who have inherited the hopes of the preceding generations.
Currently, the three brothers inherit their thoughts of successive times, making sake brewing.
